Job summary

Anthropic in San Francisco seeks a Research Engineer for the Economic Research Data Platform. You will design, build, and maintain critical data pipelines and infrastructure powering AI economics research, supporting privacy-preserving analytics.

You will work with data systems across Anthropic, including tools for research and policy analysis, to enable high-leverage studies. Successful candidates will have a track record building data-intensive applications in production, experience with

Qualifications

• Significant experience building data-intensive applications, pipelines, or internal tooling in production.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS or GCP, and writing clean, well-documented Python code.
• Intuition for analytics workflows and empathy for researchers and data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate data pipelines turning raw usage data into clean, reusable datasets.
• Design systems and ML pipelines behind classifiers and probes to understand Claude usage and impact on the economy.
• Create self-serve workflows to ingest and integrate external data sources with internal datasets.
• Develop APIs, libraries, and interfaces that serve data to researchers and the public.
• Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, policy experts, and cross-functional partners to advance Anthropic's safety mission.
• Contribute to team roadmap, documentation, and practices enabling self-serve data access with governance.
• Ensure data reliability, integrity, and privacy compliance across all economic research data infrastructure.
