Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, is seeking Software Engineers to join the Infrastructure Applications Program. You will contribute to design, development, testing, and integration of software, including AI-enabled capabilities, in a multidisciplinary team.

We value hands-on coding in Java, Python, and JavaScript, collaboration with stakeholders, and a learning mindset. This role requires a US DOE Q-level clearance and a Bachelor's in CS or related field.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software development fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Experience developing software using Java, Python, JavaScript.
• Familiarity with source control systems, issue tracking tools, testing methodologies, and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity designing data models and building knowledge graphs for AI large-language models.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Hands-on experience developing AI-native systems, including MCP-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain software applications using Java, Python, JavaScript, Angular, and related tools.
• Contribute to AI-enabled capabilities, including AI agents, automation, and other emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, liaisons, customers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Continuously learn new technologies and apply knowledge to improve solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, designs, and user guides.
• Communicate progress, status, challenges, and recommendations in reports and demos.
• Utilize Git, Bitbucket, Jira, testing frameworks, and agile methodologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
