Job summary

Ahead seeks a Data Engineer to build and operate data capabilities, enabling trusted information across teams. You will develop ingestion pipelines, data models, and curated data products in a modern cloud data platform with Snowflake and dbt.

You will support data from Salesforce, NetSuite, APIs, and other sources, enabling analytics, automation, and AI-enabled workflows. The role emphasizes AI-assisted coding, testing, and documentation within an Agile team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• 3+ years of data engineering, software engineering, analytics engineering, or related technical role.
• Production-quality SQL and Python experience.
• Experience building or supporting data pipelines, transformations, and data models in a cloud data environment.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, or comparable cloud data warehouse and transformation technologies.
• Understanding of data modeling, ELT/ETL patterns, pipeline orchestration, APIs, and source-system integration.
• Experience with software engineering practices including source control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Demonstrated active use of AI-assisted software development tools for code generation, test creation, documentation, debugging, or review.
• Ability to follow an AI SDLC and identify practical opportunities for multiple cooperating agents to improve delivery speed, consistency, and coverage.
• Understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, access control, privacy, and secure handling of enterprise data.
• Ability to investigate data issues, communicate findings clearly, and work through ambiguity with teammates and stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, analysts, product owners, governance partners, security teams, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve data ingestion pipelines from enterprise systems, APIs, and approved sources.
• Apply AI SDLC: use AI coding tools, validate outputs via testing and peer review.
• Create tests (unit, integration, data-quality, regression) and ensure coverage.
• Develop documentation, runbooks, lineage notes, and change summaries via AI-assisted workflows.
• Develop SQL and Python solutions for data collection, validation, transformation, and publishing.
• Use Snowflake and dbt for transformations, reusable models, and curated datasets.
• Translate requirements into source mappings, data models, and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with analytics, applications, AI, and business teams for governed data access patterns.
• Implement data quality checks for completeness, freshness, uniqueness, and referential integrity.
• Add metadata, lineage, ownership, and usage guidance to data products.
• Establish secure access patterns with Data Governance and Security teams.
• Build automated tests and deployment processes across environments.
• Monitor pipeline health, data freshness, performance, and failures; help resolve incidents.
• Optimize Snowflake workloads, queries, and storage for performance and cost.
• Support publication of cross-system data for shared business context, AI use cases.
• Work with Horizon semantic-layer capabilities for consistent data meaning.
• Participate in backlog refinement, estimation, code review, and iterative delivery.
• Identify opportunities to simplify delivery and improve platform reliability.
