Job summary

Empower Retirement, LLC is seeking a Security Automation Engineer to build and support Python-based security automation solutions that strengthen cybersecurity and improve operational efficiency.

The role involves partnering with governance, risk and compliance, threat management, and other security functions, with a strong emphasis on AI-enabled automation using large language models and MCP capabilities to support secure AI integrations and governance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on software development or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Python and production-quality code development, testing, debugging, and maintenance.
• Experience building API-driven applications and integrations with authentication, pagination, error handling, retries, and logging.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, dependency management, and maintainable software design.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and refactoring.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and MCP-based capabilities.
• Experience building automation in one or more cloud platforms; understanding IaC and cloud-native concepts.
• Ability to work with incomplete requirements and independently investigate unfamiliar tools and environments.
• Strong analytical and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain Python-based security automation solutions.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to clarify requirements and validate functionality.
• Build reliable Python apps, services, APIs, workflows, and reusable libraries.
• Develop API-driven integrations across security tools, cloud platforms, auth systems, and more.
• Automate security and compliance checks, including cloud resource validation.
• Develop AI-enabled security automation using large language models and MCP.
• Contribute to agentic security capabilities, including automated analysis of code for vulnerabilities.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot issues across application code, APIs, identities, cloud infra, and runtimes.
• Collaborate via code reviews and shared tooling to improve security and governance.
