Job summary

Empower Retirement seeks a Security Automation Engineer in Colorado to design, build, test, and maintain Python-based security automation solutions. You will partner with cybersecurity teams across governance, risk, compliance, and cloud security to improve protection and efficiency.

You will focus on AI-enabled automation using large language models and MCP, develop API-driven integrations, and ensure secure, auditable automation across our security tooling.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on software development.
• Proficiency in Python for production-quality code.
• Experience building API-driven applications and integrations including authentication, pagination, error handling, retries, and logging.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, dependency management, and maintainable software design.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and refactoring, including independently validating generated output.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and MCP-based capabilities.
• Experience building or supporting automation in one or more cloud platforms, with IaC understanding.
• Ability to work with incomplete or ambiguous requirements and independently investigate tools, APIs, and environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain Python-based security automation solutions.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to understand challenges, clarify requirements, document designs, and validate functionality.
• Build API-driven integrations across security tools, cloud platforms, authentication systems, and internal technologies.
• Develop AI-enabled security automation using LLMs and MCP, including governance controls.
• Contribute to agentic security capabilities, including automated analysis of code for vulnerabilities and compliance.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and refactoring with independent validation.
• Troubleshoot issues across application code, APIs, cloud infrastructure, data flows, and runtime environments.
• Collaborate through code reviews, shared tooling, and engineering documentation to improve security and reliability.
