Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Quality Engineering & Assurance team in the United States. You will design, develop, and maintain test automation for AI-driven applications, including chatbots, using Java and Python.

You’ll perform API and database testing, collaborate with product managers and developers, and drive end-to-end quality across features. You will work with CI/CD tools, JIRA/ALM, and modern AI tools to accelerate test development, ensure coverage, and uphold

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0 – 1 years of professional experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering role.
• Hands‑on experience developing and maintaining test automation scripts and frameworks using Java and Python.
• Basic understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and practical experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Interest or prior experience testing AI-powered applications, such as chatbots or other AI/ML-based systems.
• Experience with Hybrid Automation frameworks and CI/CD concepts/tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
• Exposure to performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks using Java and Python.
• Perform API testing, validate endpoints, and work with Swagger YAML files.
• Conduct database testing with SQL queries to ensure data integrity.
• Own quality for features, create test cases, run functional/integration/regression tests, and sign off.
• Track and report testing progress using tools like JIRA, ADO, or ALM; understand CI/CD concepts.
• Implement and execute test plans for AI/ML applications, including chatbot testing for intent and accuracy.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate test script development and data generation.
• Ensure AI reliability by testing for bias, fairness, and model robustness.
