Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Platform Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in St. Louis, MO. You will contribute to the FABRIC team’s AI and Operations platform, turning institutional knowledge into automated workflows and IaC patterns.

The role offers mentorship, networking, and exposure to cutting-edge AI tools, with compensation of $25-30 per hour. You must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s program with a 2027–2029 graduation window and eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
• Experience with Python development and scripting.
• Familiarity with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
• Experience using Git or other source code management tools.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
• Exposure to AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar technologies.
• Preferred Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code (IaC).
• This role is not eligible for Mastercard’s work authorization sponsorship. Must be eligible to work in the United States, now and in the future, without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Codify organizational knowledge across Compute, Storage, Mainframe, and HP platforms into AI-driven operations, creating a foundation for automation and governance.
• Develop and maintain a machine-managed AI & Operations platform that converts institutional knowledge into reusable automation assets and IaC patterns.
• Deliver operational dashboards with real-time visibility into tasks, automation adoption, platform health, and KPIs across critical payments infrastructure.
• Accelerate modernization by enabling self-service automation and driving continuous improvement across traditional and mission-critical platforms.
