Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a Learning Experience Designer to support undergraduate and graduate courses across modalities—online, hybrid, and HyFlex.

You will collaborate with faculty to design engaging, accessible experiences aligned with outcomes, student success goals, and workforce relevance. The role emphasizes instructional design, multimedia development, and the integration of AI into course design, with a strong focus on Universal Design for Learning and accessibility

Qualifications

• Master's degree in instructional design, learning experience design, educational technology, or related field with minimum two years of experience.
• Experience supporting undergraduate or graduate online programs through course and learning experience design and development.
• Expertise with LMS platforms, preferably Canvas.
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI tools in course design and day-to-day workflows.
• Knowledge of UDL and accessibility standards and inclusive teaching.
• Ability to design assessments that measure progress and mastery.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with faculty and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to learn new tools quickly and maintain attention to detail.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Course and Learning Experience Design and Development across modalities, including online and hybrid.
• Support the development of new online and hybrid programs with workforce-aligned outcomes.
• Guide course development using backward design to align outcomes, assessments, and activities.
• Create multimedia materials and digital learning experiences across modalities.
• Develop AI-enabled teaching resources and an online AI repository for faculty and students.
• Provide advanced Canvas support and design accessible content using DesignPLUS.
• Conduct internal course quality reviews using Quality Matters or similar frameworks.
• Use learning analytics and engagement data to improve courses and programs.
• Support faculty development and onboarding resources for pedagogy and instructional technology.
