Job summary

James Hardie Building Products Inc. is seeking an IT Intern in Documentation & Knowledge Management for a 12-week paid internship with a hybrid work arrangement.

You will join the Global Applications team to accelerate the centralized SAP/JD Edwards documentation repository and establish AI-assisted processes for current-state workflows. You'll review system documentation, capture business context, and coordinate with SMEs.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029 (rising junior or rising senior).
• Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Available to work full‑time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Review SAP and JDE custom objects, metadata, and existing documentation to understand current system functionality and business processes.
• Research historical artifacts, change tickets, Jira items, CAB records, testing documentation, and related materials to gather technical and business context.
• Identify documentation gaps and opportunities to improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of system documentation.
• Leverage approved AI tools to create technical summaries, process flows, draft specifications, dependency inventories, and other supporting documentation.
• Develop, update, and maintain documentation to support system knowledge management and future enhancements.
• Organize and maintain documentation repositories, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and easy to access.
• Coordinate reviews with subject matter experts (SMEs), capture feedback, and incorporate revisions into final deliverables.
• Support initiatives to standardize documentation practices and improve knowledge transfer across IT and business teams.
