Huawei Research and Development UK Limited is recruiting researchers and engineers for Edinburgh data management and AI-enabled workloads. You will design core database components, prototype advanced query techniques, and work across storage, indexing, and distributed data architectures.

You’ll partner with universities and Huawei teams to push the boundaries of AI-native data platforms. You will contribute to on-device AI, vector search, and cloud-native data systems, with opportunities to

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in CS/CE or related field.
• Strong background in computer systems, AI systems, and distributed systems.
• Experience with system design, implementation, evaluation, and performance debugging.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and at least one other system language.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate core database components and data management systems.
• Prototype advanced query planning and execution techniques.
• Develop storage, indexing, and data layout mechanisms for multi-modal data.
• Collaborate with Huawei product teams and academic partners.
• Publish technical reports and contribute to projects.
