Job summary

CSS Staffing is seeking a Data Governance Engineer in Omaha, NE (onsite) to help modernize and automate enterprise data governance initiatives. This role blends software engineering, data engineering, automation, and AI to build scalable governance solutions that improve data quality, metadata management, and data reliability.

You will partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to implement governance processes, establish a trusted data environment, and promote enterprise-wide data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, Data Eng, or related field.
• 4+ years in data engineering or a technical data management role.
• Experience deploying production software solutions.
• Strong coding: Python, SQL, REST APIs, Git/GitHub.
• Experience with cloud data platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks.
• Knowledge of metadata management, data cataloging, and data lineage.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated data governance solutions using AI, APIs, and modern engineering practices.
• Integrate governance controls into data pipelines to improve quality, compliance, and consistency.
• Develop policy-as-code solutions with version control, testing, and deployment.
• Build metadata management processes to improve cataloging, lineage, and discoverability.
• Enhance enterprise data catalog capabilities through automated metadata collection and management.
• Develop automated data quality monitoring, validation, and alerting.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance governance on cloud platforms.
• Support data management tools including data catalogs, data quality, and MDM solutions.
• Promote governance standards and data stewardship across the organization.
