Job summary

Old National Bank is seeking a Cybersecurity Detection and Response Engineer to strengthen security monitoring on Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR. You will design detections, support complex investigations, and collaborate with SOC analysts and external providers to improve speed and accuracy.

In this role you will design playbooks in Logic Apps, automate repeatable SOC tasks, assist incident response, and pursue continuous improvement to meet FFIEC, NIST, and banking requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4 years of cybersecurity experience (monitoring, IR, or detection engineering).
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR technologies.
• Strong KQL skills; experience creating detections, dashboards, or hunts.
• Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, APIs, Logic Apps).
• Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, endpoint security, log analysis, regulated environments.
• Interest in using AI-assisted tools to improve security operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detections based on threat intel and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Validate detections, threat hunt, and participate in red/purple team testing.
• Identify gaps and improve telemetry, coverage, and response processes.
• Design and maintain Sentinel playbooks, Logic Apps, APIs, and automation workflows.
• Automate SOC processes to speed response and accuracy.
• Support incident response with data analysis and evidence collection.
• Continuously improve monitoring, automation, and operational processes.
