Job summary

Old National Bank is seeking a Cybersecurity Detection & Response Engineer to strengthen security monitoring and response capabilities across US locations, with emphasis on Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR. You will develop detections, automate SOC workflows, and support complex investigations in a banking context.

Responsibilities include threat detection engineering, incident response support, and continuous improvement of telemetry, automation, and governance alignment with FFIEC and NIST

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity/IT/CS.
• Minimum 4 years of cybersecurity experience incl. monitoring, IR, or detection engineering.
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR technologies.
• Strong KQL skills and ability to develop detections, dashboards, or hunting queries.
• Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, APIs, Logic Apps).
• -working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and regulated security environments.
• Interest in AI-assisted tools to improve security operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detections based on threat intel, MITRE ATT&CK.
• Validate detections via threat hunting and red/purple-team testing.
• Identify gaps and improve telemetry, coverage and response processes.
• Partner with SOC, IT, and third parties to improve investigations.
• Design and maintain Sentinel playbooks, Logic Apps, APIs, and automation workflows.
• Automate repetitive SOC processes to improve speed and accuracy.
• Support incident response through data analysis and evidence collection.
• Maintain practical playbooks and after-action improvements.
• Research emerging threats and AI uses in security operations.
• Ensure alignment with FFIEC, NIST, and banking requirements.
