Cengage Group is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager in the United States to lead a team dedicated to AI-first automation and innovative content-platform delivery. You will drive end-to-end projects with onshore and offshore engineers, partner with product teams, and guide architecture decisions for cloud-native, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience.
3+ years of technology leadership experience, including developing technology strategies, fostering innovation, and leading globally distributed teams.
Solid understanding of AI concepts, technologies and methods, including machine learning, Language, Reasoning & multimodal models, prompt & context engineering, developing and using skills & agent frameworks, RAG, and vector databases.
Hands-on experience integrating or experimenting with commercial and open-source GenAI technologies and toolkits (e.g., coding assistants, OpenAI CODEX, LangChain).

Responsibilities

Partner with content teams to analyze workflows and design AI-first automation opportunities.
Lead end-to-end delivery of automation initiatives with onsite and offshore engineering teams.
Drive development of AI-powered tools through prototyping and continuous improvement of existing platforms.
Collaborate with Product Managers to deliver innovative, scalable solutions aligned with engineering guidelines.
Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
Reimagine workflows using modern platforms, automation, and generative AI.
Engage in POM Discovery activities with stakeholders to derive end-user solutions.
Balance technical debt with new feature development within each sprint.
