Handoff is seeking a Construction Specialist in Austin, TX to own the quality of blueprint-based estimates for enterprise customers. You will ensure takeoffs, scopes, and material/SKU matching meet customer-specific standards and can be executed quickly and accurately in the field.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of residential construction experience (remodeling, custom homes, or design-build).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to break down complex issues into root causes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, especially cross-functional.

Responsibilities

• Own Estimate Quality: serve as the primary contact between Handoff AI and enterprise construction teams to ensure estimates meet customer specifications.
• Validate Blueprint Takeoffs: perform structured quality checks on takeoffs and estimates against real-world scopes, quantities, and specs.
• Improve Estimating Systems: maintain and refine estimating knowledge bases, templates, and material classifiers for consistency and accuracy.
• Material & SKU Matching: map contractor material lists to enterprise vendor SKUs, including brands and availability.
• Debug Estimation Issues: investigate failures by reviewing AI logs, workflows, and outputs to identify root causes.
• Run Test Scenarios: execute test estimates to validate improvements and ensure outputs meet quality thresholds.
• Translate Field Expertise: convert contractor feedback into actionable insights for Product and Engineering teams.
• Document & Report Issues: create reproducible bug reports and prioritize improvements by impact.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: work with Product and Engineering to test features and improve workflows.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: identify recurring failure patterns and propose scalable fixes.
