Job summary

Handoff is hiring a Construction Specialist to own the quality of blueprint-based estimates for enterprise customers. You will ensure takeoffs and SKUs align with specifications and can be executed quickly in the field.

This role suits someone with residential construction experience who wants to influence product-driven AI that understands construction workflows and materials. You will work cross-functionally to improve estimation processes and outputs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of residential construction experience (remodeling, custom homes, or design-build).
• 1-2+ years in construction material purchasing or sales with SKUs and availability knowledge.
• Hands-on blueprint takeoff experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or OST.
• Experience with estimating platforms: Buildertrend, JobTread, Joist, STACK, or CoConstruct.

Responsibilities

• Own Estimate Quality: act as the primary contact between Handoff AI and enterprise construction teams, ensuring estimates meet customer-specific expectations.
• Validate Blueprint Takeoffs: run structured quality checks on takeoffs and estimates aligning with real-world scopes and specs.
• Improve Estimating Systems: maintain templates and material classifiers to improve consistency and accuracy.
• Material & SKU Matching: map contractor material lists to enterprise vendor SKUs, including brands and availability.
• Debug Estimation Issues: review AI logs and workflows to identify root causes across logic, data, or configuration.
• Run Test Scenarios: execute structured test estimates to validate improvements.
• Translate Field Expertise: convert contractor feedback into actionable insights for Product and Engineering teams.
• Document & Report Issues: create clear, reproducible bug reports and prioritize improvements.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: work with Product and Engineering to test features and ship higher-quality outputs.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: identify recurring failure patterns and propose scalable fixes.
