Job summary

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Backend & AI Platform Engineer in San Jose, CA to build the backend platform powering intelligent automation across scientific workflows. You will connect instruments, cloud, and AI agents to scale the platform.

You will design data management for LLM-powered systems, orchestrate services, define data contracts, and prototype new AI technologies for production-ready solutions in regulated environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
7+ years designing, building, and supporting distributed backend systems and APIs.
Experience with event-driven microservices on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Hands-on with LLM-powered apps or multi-agent orchestration and tool integration.
Strong API design and scalable backend architecture with production readiness.

Responsibilities

Architect and develop event-driven backend services and APIs connecting instruments, cloud infra, and AI agents.
Design scalable data and context management for LLM-powered systems, incl. retrieval pipelines and memory.
