Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Engineering Manager for Cooperative Systems in San Francisco. You will lead a hands-on team building AI-powered automation that scales across internal operations, partner with product, research, and operations, and stay involved in architecture and implementation across the full stack.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering manager with strong leadership and coaching skills.
• 12+ years in engineering, including 3+ years in engineering management; 7+ years as an IC engineer.
• Experience across the full tech stack and large-scale systems.
• Proven ability to apply AI concepts to real-world workflows and engage with customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a small team building AI-powered automation systems for internal operations.
• Design and build AI-powered automation systems in close proximity to customers.
• Stay hands-on in architecture and implementation across the full stack.
• Develop evolving systems spanning developer tools, automation platforms, knowledge graphs, and data systems.
• Deploy systems directly to internal users and close customers to iterate rapidly.
• Engage frequently with scaled workforces to understand needs and validate solutions.
• Create systems for visibility and learning in hybrid workforces.
• Partner with product, research, and ops teams daily.
