Carter’s Inc. is seeking a Manager, AI Development to lead the AI Center of Excellence's build team, mentor developers, and shape enterprise AI solutions across the business.

Qualifications

• At least 7+ years of software and/or data analytics development experience.
• At least 2+ years leading or managing developers including 1+ years building GenAI/LLM-based solutions.
• Hands-on AI development — shipping LLM applications, agentic workflows, or AI-powered automations.
• Experience with enterprise AI platforms and frameworks (e.g., Claude/Anthropic API, Azure OpenAI, MCP-style tool integrations, RAG architectures).
• Experience in leading sprint planning, backlog grooming, and prioritization with stakeholders.
• Communication — excels at partnering with non-technical stakeholders and guiding developers.
• Delivery leadership — track record of agile delivery, backlog management, and predictable releases.
• Integration fluency — comfortable with enterprise data and platform integrations.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the CoE development team: assignments, priorities, performance, and career growth.
• Own sprint planning and delivery for the CoE build backlog in collaboration with the Solutions Manager.
• Perform code/design reviews; unblock developers and manage delivery risks and dependencies.
• Coordinate with Forward-Deployed Engineers to ensure CoE standards and clean handbacks.
• Report delivery status, capacity, and velocity to CoE leadership.
• Design and build the most complex AI solutions (LLM apps, agentic workflows, connectors).
• Advise business units on feasibility, approach, and effort; translate requests into implementable designs.
• Prototype patterns and harden pilots into production solutions.
• Serve as escalation point for technical issues across CoE-supported solutions.
• Define and enforce development standards, testing, documentation, and release management.
