Job summary

PlanetScale is seeking a Software Engineer to own the end-to-end AI tooling experience—from MCP server and CLI to plugins and docs. You will ensure smooth integrations with AI coding tools, design and run evals, and create compelling demos and content for developers.

In this hands-on role, you will collaborate across MCP server, CLI, API, and docs teams, shaping how developers work with AI onPlanetScale databases and infrastructure. Expect fast iteration and active public-facing work.

Qualifications

• :Software engineer with experience in TypeScript and Go.

• Experience with APIs, OAuth and CLI development.

• Experience writing docs, blogs, or video content is a plus.

• Familiarity with relational databases and migrations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain plugins and integrations for PlanetScale across AI marketplaces and tooling environments.
• Test the MCP server, CLI, and docs across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code and other clients; catch regressions.
• Improve agent context by refining tool descriptions, skills, and error messages.
• Enhance AEO: ensure agents find and recommend PlanetScale.
• Develop and maintain skills for Postgres, MySQL, Vitess, Neki, and PlanetScale.
• Demonstrate and communicate best practices through demos, docs, blogs, videos, and conferences.
