Job summary

Brightpoint Community College seeks a full-time, 12-month Faculty / Lab Director to lead the AI and Cybersecurity Workforce Development Lab in Chesterfield, VA. The role teaches AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, and IT courses, while building curricula and outcomes aligned with industry needs.

Responsibilities include mentoring students, advising on career readiness, and coordinating internships and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 18 graduate semester hours in a qualifying discipline.
• Proven teaching experience or significant industry experience in cybersecurity, IT, networking, cloud computing, AI, or related fields.
• Experience using instructional technologies and learning management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong communication skills in oral and written formats with students, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners.
• Commitment to serving diverse student populations.
• Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach credit and workforce development courses in AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, IT, and related areas.
• Build and maintain curriculum, including student learning outcomes, assessments, and activities aligned with program outcomes and industry certifications.
• Evaluate student learning and use data to drive continuous improvement of courses and programs.
• Advise, mentor, and support student success including retention, career readiness, and academic progression.
• Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials, certifications, and employment opportunities.
• Support internships, apprenticeships, work-based learning, recruitment, outreach, and community engagement.
• Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and instructional best practices.
• Participate in accreditation activities, assessment, college service, committee work, and professional development.
• Run day-to-day operations of the AI and Cybersecurity Lab (physical and virtual).
• Develop, implement, and maintain hands-on instructional environments for AI, cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, and emerging tech.
• Manage lab technology resources: equipment planning, procurement, inventory, software licensing, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Lead grant-funded initiatives and workforce development efforts with goals, timelines, and reporting.
• Create and deliver workforce training programs, boot camps, and short-term credentials for employers.
• Develop and revise academic and workforce programs aligned with industry needs, accreditation standards, and workforce demands.
