You will learn from IBM engineers and work on production systems using modern cloud technologies. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's degree, can commit full-time January–May 2027, and anticipate returning to complete their degree after the co‑op.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and returning to complete the degree.
• Available to start full-time between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Able to work 40 hours per week for 16 weeks between January 19 and May 7, 2027.
• Co-op requires full-time commitment; no concurrent coursework during term.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, testing, and debugging across front-end, back-end, and infrastructure.
• Build capabilities to evaluate, observe, debug, benchmark, and optimize AI agents.
• Analyze behaviors of large language models and AI agents for tool usage and latency.
• Develop automated evaluation and testing systems for AI applications, including test-case generation.
• Build services and APIs to collect and analyze telemetry from AI applications.
• Contribute to SDKs and integrations with various AI models and runtimes.
• Explore prompt optimization and model selection to improve AI system efficiency.
• Help build UIs with React and backend services with distributed systems.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and cloud-native services.
• Use Git, CI/CD, and collaboration tools; participate in code reviews and Agile processes.
• Explore emergent AI tech like agentic AI, LLM evaluation, observability, and automation.
