Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission in Austin, TX, is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer within the Chief Technology Office to advance modernization and AI enablement across cloud platforms. The role focuses on secure automation, scalable hosting, and observability to improve reliability and delivery speed.

The position requires strong cloud engineering skills, IaC, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, information technology, cloud engineering, AI, data engineering, cybersecurity, or related field.
• Experience with cloud environments like AWS or Azure (minimum 4 years).
• Preferred experience with DevOps pipelines, platform automation, application modernization, or secure deployment patterns for cloud-native and AI workloads.

Responsibilities

• Develops, maintains, and improves automated CI/CD and GitOps deployment processes using infrastructure-as-code templates and provisioning code.
• Designs secure cloud-native platforms, container orchestration, cloud networking configurations, serverless compute, and scalable hosting patterns for web services and AI workloads.
• Troubleshoots deployment pipelines, cloud security policies, infrastructure bottlenecks, environment drift, and observability gaps to ensure reliable, secure systems.
• Assists development, data, and AI teams with environment automation and modernization readiness, release documentation, and runbooks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
