Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Technical Lead to guide AI-enabled initiatives for NIH/NCI in cancer research and precision medicine. You will shape strategy, architecture, and governance while collaborating with scientists, clinicians, and government leaders to deliver scalable, secure AI capabilities.

The role requires extensive leadership in enterprise AI/ML within federal health/life sciences, with strong cloud and HPC expertise.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Computer Science, AI, Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive technical leadership in large-scale Federal health/science programs.
• Minimum 10 years designing and leading enterprise AI/ML solutions in healthcare or life sciences.
• Experience advising executive Government customers on AI strategy and architecture.
• Experience with HPC, cloud-native AI platforms, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, and MLOps.
• Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face, MLflow, Kubeflow, LangChain.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and implementation of AI-enabled solutions for cancer research, precision medicine, and biomedical informatics.
• Serve as principal technical advisor to NCI leadership on AI, ML, and digital modernization initiatives.
• Partner with Government stakeholders to define priorities and deliver innovative, mission-focused solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across AI model development, deployment, and lifecycle management including NLP, LLMs, CV, and predictive analytics.
• Oversee AI capabilities for biomedical imaging, radiomics, genomics, and precision oncology.
• Guide scalable AI and cloud architectures leveraging HPC, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and MLOps.
• Ensure Responsible AI with governance, explainability, bias mitigation, security, and NIH/NIST compliance.
• Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, and executive roadmaps; communicate with executives and researchers.
• Mentor AI engineers, data scientists, cloud architects, cybersecurity specialists, and SMEs to ensure high-quality solutions.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies to accelerate discovery and improve efficiency.
