Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Technical Lead to provide strategic technical leadership and advisory support to NIH/NCI, driving AI/ML capabilities for cancer research and precision medicine. The role focuses on building scalable AI, cloud-based architectures, and responsible AI governance for high-impact biomedical initiatives.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in AI/ML, biomedical informatics, cloud computing, and modern software engineering, with strong communication to executives and researchers

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a computer science or AI-related field.
• 15+ years leading federal health/biomedical computing tech.
• 10+ years delivering enterprise AI/ML in healthcare or life sciences.
• Experience advising executives on AI strategy and arch/tech.
• Expertise in deep learning, NLP, LLMs, computer vision, and cloud AI.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams of AI/DS/SE/Cloud.
• Clearances suitable for public trust/ADPII.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy, architecture, and AI-enabled solutions for cancer research and precision medicine.
• Advise NIH/NCI leadership on AI strategy and digital modernization.
• Collaborate with SMEs to define priorities and deliver mission-focused AI solutions.
• Oversee AI model development, deployment, and lifecycle management (ML/DL/NLP/LLMs).
• Guide scalable cloud architectures using HPC, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud, Kubernetes, MLOps.
• Ensure Responsible AI with governance, explainability, bias mitigation, privacy and security.
• Present architecture roadmaps and brief executives; mentor AI engineers and data scientists.
