Caterpillar is seeking a data-centric AI engineer to design and deploy automated labeling, captioning, and annotation quality systems for perception datasets. You will build scalable data pipelines, train and evaluate models, and integrate internal data with external providers to enable autonomous and AI‑enabled equipment.

Work focuses on vision, multimodal AI, and robotics across heavy machinery data. The role requires full‑time onsite work at Irving, TX, with relocation and visa sponsorship

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related field.
• Experience developing production‑grade software solutions using Python and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems, APIs, and data processing pipelines.
• Experience training, fine‑tuning, or deploying machine learning models.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work across multiple technical disciplines.
• Experience generating and managing camera and LiDAR sensor datasets for perception or ML applications.
• Experience in data annotation and QA for autonomous systems or CV projects with measurable improvements in dataset accuracy.
• Experience using annotation and dataset tools such as Labelbox, Supervisely, RoboFlow or similar.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and deploy automated labeling and captioning solutions for perception and VLA datasets.
• Train, fine‑tune, and evaluate AI models for auto‑labeling, auto‑captioning, and annotation quality automation.
• Build data pipelines and workflows moving datasets through labeling, review, validation, and publication.
• Integrate Caterpillar data systems with external annotation providers and human‑in‑the‑loop workflows.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, observability, and operational excellence across annotation services.
• Collaborate across teams to apply AI to real‑world machinery data.
