Job summary

Coalition, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer for the Automation team to build AI-powered automation for business workflows. You will author skills, wire agents to MCP-backed systems of record, and deploy production-ready agents used by non-engineers daily.

You will collaborate with data teams to ensure data access and quality, applying practical expertise in Python, SQL, and real-time production data models. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering and close business collaboration.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience shipping LLM-backed applications: prompting, tool use, agentic loops, and multi-step workflows.
• Agent tooling: Practical experience with MCP, skill or tool authoring, and orchestrating agents against real systems of record.
• Evals: Built eval sets and used them to make decisions, not just to make a slide look good.
• Coding agents: Fluent with agentic coding tools like Cursor.
• Core development: Strong Python. Comfortable with SQL and production data models.
• Business fluency: Map business processes from non-technical operators into requirements.
• Ambiguity: Handle undocumented processes and unclear ownership.
• Shipping discipline: Git, CI, containers, and deploying own work healthily.
• Experience: At least 5+ years of hands-on software development.

Responsibilities

• Author skills: Turn a team's process into reusable skills for agents.
• Build within our agent architecture: wire agents to systems of record via MCP servers.
• Build evals: Define what constitutes correctness with the business team.
• Deploy and support agents: Move prototypes to production with governance and docs.
