Job summary

fairlife, LLC, a Chicago-based nutrition company, seeks an AI Automation Engineer to build agentic systems in a Microsoft Fabric and Azure environment. You will design, develop, and deploy production-grade agents that automate workflows across manufacturing, supply chain, and business ops.

The role requires 2+ years in AI/ML or software engineering, strong Python skills, and experience with LangChain, LLMs, and MLOps. Hybrid onsite in downtown Chicago with base pay $85k-$105k.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of AI/ML or software engineering experience.
• BS/MS in CS/Data Science/AI or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with LLMs and foundation models.
• Hands-on with agentic frameworks and orchestration patterns.
• Experience with prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases, and model deployment.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms for scalable AI deployment.
• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, governance, and compliance.
• Strong API, Git, and containerization skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Manufacturing/supply chain exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents that autonomously reason and execute tasks.
• Identify manual processes and re-engineer as automated workflows.
• Orchestrate single- and multi-agent workflows with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen.
• Integrate agents with internal tools, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation to ground agents in domain data.
• Apply prompt engineering and tool calls for reliable production systems.
• Leverage MLOps/LLMOps to monitor, evaluate, and improve agents.
• Build responsible-AI guardrails including safety and governance.
• Collaborate with Senior Data Scientist to prioritize automation opportunities.
