Job summary

HUB International is seeking an AI Engineer to join the RPA & Automation team in Chicago. You will design, build, and ship production-grade AI apps on Claude, create reusable skills and plug-ins, and govern assets across HUB’s enterprise data landscape.

You’ll configure models, implement RAG workflows, and collaborate with Enterprise Engineering to scale capabilities. Hybrid work from our Chicago office is offered with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software or automation engineering, including 2+ years building and shipping LLM-backed applications to production.
• Direct, recent, hands-on experience building and publishing Claude skills or plug-ins; broad LLM or framework experience without shipped skills and plug-ins is not sufficient
• Strong Python, REST APIs, and enterprise integration, with sound fundamentals in testing, version control, and monitoring
• Hands-on experience with foundational models: system and prompt design, skill and tool building, function and tool calling
• Retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and vector stores, with chunking and reranking
• Evaluation and monitoring for LLM systems, with a working feel for cost, latency, and reliability tradeoffs
• Experience operating inside a regulated enterprise, with security, governance, and access control as part of normal delivery
• Cloud experience (Azure or GCP / Vertex AI)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Build AI Applications: create reusable skills and plug-ins, compose into governed AI applications used across HUB lines
• Configure and tune foundational models (Claude, Gemini) for HUB use cases
• Build retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and workflows over governed enterprise data
• Productionize prototypes into reliable, governed applications
• Own the AI Asset Platform: manage skill and plug-in marketplace and MCP catalog
• Set and enforce enterprise standards and governance for skills, plug-ins, and MCP
• Apply access control and audit to AI assets in collaboration with Security and Cloud
• Build simple to moderate skills, plug-ins, and MCP connections; route complex builds to Enterprise Engineering
• Stand up evaluation harnesses, guardrails, and monitoring for enterprise-scale AI outputs
• Provide production support for skills, plug-ins, and applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to turn rough ideas into production-ready capabilities
• Work with Enterprise Engineering and data teams for reliable delivery
