Job summary

Serval, an AI-native automation platform, seeks a Software Engineer, Agent Systems to build core systems powering AI agents. You’ll work on orchestration, runtime, grounding, and evaluation infrastructure to enable agents to reason, act, and operate reliably in enterprise environments.

You’ll help shape agent behavior across help desk, automation, and knowledge workflows, delivering scalable, high-performance systems for large enterprise use.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-grade systems experience.
• Experience building AI-powered systems, agent frameworks, or LLM-based applications in production.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience building software products and systems in production environments.
• Designing systems from first principles with reliability, scalability, and maintainability in mind.
• Excitement about frontier AI products and useful agents in the real world.
• High agency and comfort in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end agent-based product functionality.
• Develop foundational systems behind Serval’s agent platform, including orchestration, runtime, and core primitives.
• Design and evolve the agentic loop for steerability, trustworthiness, adaptability, and production-readiness.
• Improve retrieval and grounding so agents provide accurate, context-aware actions.
• Build evaluation frameworks and feedback loops to measure and improve agent quality.
• Collaborate with product to bring new agent capabilities into customer workflows.
• Establish technical standards and best practices for reliable, high-performance agent systems.
