Job summary

Schmidt Sciences is seeking an Associate to support AI & Advanced Computing Center grantmaking programs. You will help manage the grant process from intake to reporting, coordinate reviewers, and communicate with nominators and applicants.

The role focuses on grant lifecycle management, evaluation, and community support, with opportunities to contribute to event planning and dissemination of awardee research outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred but not mandatory.
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience in operations, consulting, project management, or AI research is a plus.
• Comfort with modern office suites (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office) required; Excel pivot tables and formulas highly desired.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple timelines and administrative processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication with ability to synthesize complex information.
• Dynamic, proactive, problem-solving mindset and self-starter.
• Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence and computer science.

Responsibilities

• Support full lifecycle of grant processes from proposal intake to final reporting.
• Coordinate external reviewers and assess proposal quality and compliance.
• Communicate with nominators and applicants throughout selection process.
• Assist in scheduling interviews and preparing review materials.
• Serve as a point of contact for grantee network and ensure resources for convenings and reporting.
• Assist in planning convenings and workshops, manage RSVPs and travel logistics.
• Develop and coordinate public-facing resources to communicate awardees’ research and impact.
• Compile data for project evaluations in partnership with staff.
• Develop evaluation criteria and execute evaluation processes for programs.
