Job summary

Collin College seeks a part-time adjunct instructor to provide American Heart Association training and skills testing for BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS. The instructor will train healthcare students, professionals, first responders, and the public at Collin College locations in Plano, Texas.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction, evaluating student skills, preparing labs, and maintaining current AHA certifications and curriculum knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year related experience.
• Current AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS Instructor Card(s).
• Willingness to travel to Collin County campuses.

Responsibilities

• Train students on activation of emergency response systems and assess respiration and pulse in adults, children and infants using AHA materials.
• Instruct and evaluate students through skills practice on safe, effective use of equipment.
• Set up class equipment (manikins, masks, bag-valve masks, etc.).
• Maintain current knowledge of AHA practices, curriculum and instructor ratios.
• Maintain valid instructor certification.
• Prepare labs and skills evaluation sessions with necessary materials and equipment.
• Maintain a safe, respectful lab environment during training and evaluation sessions.
• Direct students through classroom or hybrid teaching formats.
• Follow AHA disinfection procedures as outlined in manuals.
• Perform other duties as assigned and uphold college policies and core values.
