Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a qualified Agriculture and Consumer Protection Specialist to oversee inspections of amusement rides and related facilities. The position requires a high school diploma, a valid Class E driver license, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class E driver license required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors.
• Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and equipment specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field audits on required documentation.
• Monitor permanent parks and temporary shows for operations based on manufacturer manuals, operating documents, and SOPs.
• Observes deficiencies and issues notices of correction or stop operation orders if applicable.
• Compiles field audit report and uploads documentation into database.
• Proposes administrative actions if applicable.
• Reviews, investigates and prepares documentation for accident reports when scheduled.
• Assists inspection specialists when conducting inspections on amusement rides when scheduled.
• Educates new companies of Florida inspection laws, rules, regulations and procedures.
• Submits travel documentation and expenses incurred for reimbursement.
