The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Horticultural Crops Research Station in Sampson County seeks an Agricultural Technician II to join our field team. The role supports research plots, planting, cultivation, and harvest activities and requires hands-on operation of farm equipment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift 50 lbs, hold a valid driver’s license, and obtain a forklift certificate and a public pesticide applicator license

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in general care and management of animals or crops, or laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs routinely and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license required; forklift certificate due within 12 months; pesticide applicator license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine agricultural and grounds maintenance activities.
  • Assist with layout and preparation of research plots.
  • Participate in planting, cultivation, crop maintenance, spray applications, and harvesting activities.
  • Operate, maintain, and service farm equipment and machinery.
  • Other duties as assigned to support station operations.
