Primary Purpose

Direct and manage the agriculturalscience program for assigned campus. Provide students with appropriate learningactivities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential forintellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree from accrediteduniversity

ValidTexas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training andwork experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan(DOI)

Demonstratedcompetency in agricultural science

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Strategies

OverseeSupervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP), including assisting studentsin selecting and managing projects and supervising school farm.

Serve asadvisor to local Future Farmers of American (FFA) chapter, including planningand conducting leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development, andcompetitive activities for students at local, regional, and state level.

Assistwith planning and delivery of adult education and community programs relatingto agricultural science and technology.

Workcooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed forspecial education students according to guidelines established in IndividualEducation Plans (IEP).

Conductassessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructionalactivities.

Developand implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’scurriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.

Plan anduse appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials,and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs ofstudents assigned and present subject matter according to guidelinesestablished by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrativeregulations.

Work withother members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, andmethods according to district requirements.

Plan andsupervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).

Usetechnology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

Conductongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

Assumeresponsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outsideactivities approved by the campus principal.

Be apositive role model for students and support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

Createclassroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical,social, and emotional development of students.

Managestudent behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and studenthandbook.

Accompanyand supervise students at all off-campus activities including contests,workshops, and field trips associated with the agricultural science program andFFA.

Overseemaintenance of program related facilities and equipment including school farm.

Take allnecessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,and facilities.

Assist inselection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Communication

Establishand maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents,students, colleagues, and community members.

Budget and Inventory

Developand administer budget based on documented program needs and ensure thatoperations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.

Coordinatefundraising activities and manage funds.

Maintaincurrent inventory of all fixed assets related to the program.

Compile,maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

Professional Growth and Development

Participatein staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Attendand participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Complywith state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroomteachers.
