Job summary

Spudnik Equipment Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to design and engineer structural components for agricultural equipment used in planting, harvesting, and handling potatoes and other crops. You will work closely with senior engineers on projects involving design, testing, documentation, and production support in both office and outdoor settings.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering degree program.
Foundational knowledge of mechanical principles and applications.
Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electric and electronic schematics.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Ability to read and interpret instructional drawings and schematics.
Proficiency with CAD systems and common office software.
Routine lifting up to 50 lbs and comfortable with varied environments.

Responsibilities

Assist engineers with design of agricultural equipment using requirements from sales, customers and management.
Assist senior engineers with stress calculations to support equipment safety.
Troubleshoot design problems using feedback from staff and customers.
Present options to senior engineers to determine best solutions.
Use CAD systems to design improvements and prototypes under supervision.
Create and maintain design documentation including schematics and BOMs.
Track tasks and communicate progress to supervising engineer.
Exhibit professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all duties.
