Gerken Materials, Inc. is hiring an Aggregate Operator at Round Lake West Pit in Addison, Michigan.

This role focuses on safe operation of heavy equipment to support daily production and site operations, with opportunities to develop practical skills in aggregate production and mine-site workflows. You will operate bulldozers, excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and skid steers, perform routine maintenance, follow MSHA rules, and work closely with the team to keep operations efficient and safe.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We're hiring an Aggregate Operator to support daily aggregate operations through the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of equipment while developing valuable skills in aggregate production and site operations.

This position is based at our Round Lake West Pit in Addison, Michigan.

What You'll Do

• Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, long-reach excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and skid steers
• Support daily production and site operations
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, including greasing, fueling, cleaning, and inspections
• Complete equipment inspection and maintenance reports
• Follow safety procedures and MSHA regulations at all times
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Work closely with team members to support efficient site operations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work outside normal business hours as operational needs require

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a team environment
• Previous heavy equipment experience preferred
• Experience operating loaders, excavators, dozers, skid steers, or haul trucks is a plus
