Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton in San Diego seeks an experienced AI/ML Engineer to design and deliver mission-focused agentic AI prototypes in fast, iterative cycles. You will collaborate with product leads, solution architects, and engineers to build, test, and deploy agent-based solutions that address high-priority client challenges.

You will apply agent orchestration, memory, retrieval patterns, and multi-agent interaction techniques while balancing performance, reliability, and cost.

Qualifications

• Experience building and delivering agentic AI applications in production or prototype environments.
• Experience implementing agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience designing and implementing agent loops, tool-calling workflows, and multi-agent interaction patterns.
• Knowledge of LLM platforms and providers (AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Ollama).
• Knowledge of prompt engineering for reliability and task performance.
• Knowledge of MCP usage and development, including integration of external tools.
• Ability to own technical delivery end-to-end in short-cycle environments.
• Ability to follow code review practices and maintain clean, reusable code.
• HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, and deliver mission-relevant agentic AI prototypes in fast, iterative development cycles.
• Collaborate with product leads, solution architects, and engineers to build, test, and deploy agent-based solutions.
• Apply best-fit frameworks and patterns, including agent orchestration, memory, and retrieval, balancing quality, reliability, and cost.
• Work within a 4-week prototype lifecycle where priorities shift and multiple efforts run in parallel.
• Solve real-world client challenges with agentic AI solutions.
