Variance is hiring for a role that leads the strategy and execution of deploying AI agents across enterprises in high-consequence environments. You will partner with customer teams, own deployments, and manage relationships to drive measurable outcomes.

This is an in-person role based in San Francisco, CA, with an opportunity to influence product roadmaps and expand key accounts. You’ll work at the intersection of product, deployment, and customer success, turning pain points into precise

• 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (implementation/solutions) or product leadership.
• Experience shipping a 0→1 product with real customer data.
• Bonus: familiarity with compliance (KYC/KYB, BSA/AML, sanctions).

At Variance, we are teaching machines to make the hardest judgement calls at scale. That means building AI agents for the high-precision gray-area of risk investigations, fraud, and identity reviews. Your work will directly help enterprises spend less time on repetitive manual reviews and investigations, allowing them to focus on serving their customers, improving their products, and growing their business. We’re rapidly growing, just raised a $21M Series A, and are building a team that works directly with leaders from leading marketplaces, gig platforms, fintechs, and financial institutions.

Why this role

In this role, you’ll own the strategy and execution for deploying Variance across enterprises operating in complex, high-consequence environments. You'll partner closely with customer teams to deeply understand their workflows and goals, own the successful deployment of AI agents within their organization, and manage the relationship. When we get it right, pilots convert because the system demonstrably works on the customer's real data and edge cases, and customers come to see Variance as a strategic partner.We’re seeking someone with the executive presence of a strategy consultant, the instincts of a product builder, and the ownership of a founder. This is a foundational hire for this position and you’ll have the opportunity to build and shape the future of this function.

This is an in-person position. Our office is located in San Francisco, CA.

What you’ll do

• Build AI agents for risk and compliance.
• You’ll operate at the intersection of product, customer engagement, and deployment, partnering directly with our engineers and customers to ship agents that make decisions inside fraud and risk workflows.
• Understand the work before you build. Customers arrive with pain points, and your job is to turn those into requirements precise enough to build against.
• You’ll learn how their teams make decisions today: what they escal
• Own the customer relationship and outcome. You'll be the strategic and technical owner of your accounts and the trusted advisor your customer calls to identify where our agents can make an impact next. You'll define what "success" means for each deployment and stay accountable for it through production and the life of the account.
• Grow the account. You'll be the only person who knows both the customer's roadmap and what's possible for us to build. A first contract becomes a multi-year expansion because of you.
• Shape the roadmap long-term. The patterns you see across accounts drive what Variance builds. What one customer needs today may define the roadmap for every customer in that industry.

Example projects

• Translate a customer's investigation SOP into agent decision logic and refine it as production edge cases surface
• Map customer due diligence obligations across jurisdictions into a set of agent requirements
• Design the human escalation path for decisions the agent won't make on its own

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles as an implementation or solutions consultant, product manager, or founder
• Experience shipping a 0 → 1 product and iterating on quality against real customer data
• Bonus if you've automated a human review or investigation workflow, or understand compliance requirements (e.g., KYC/KYB, BSA/AML, sanctions screening)
