Job summary

Cloth & Flame is seeking a Director of Events to lead our events department and personally produce programs while we scale. You will partner with sales, creative, design, production, culinary, and accounting to ensure deliverables are priced accurately and executed to the highest standard.

This hands-on leader will evolve toward greater team management as the agency grows, overseeing staffing, budgets, and cross‑functional collaboration to maintain exceptional guest experiences and profitability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in event production, experiential marketing, hospitality, or related field.
• Strong organizational and communication skills across concurrent programs.
• Experience producing events from planning to execution.
• Experience mentoring or leading event professionals.
• Experience managing event budgets with margin awareness.
• Able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
• Calm, resourceful, solutions-oriented under pressure.
• Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as schedules require.
• Arizona base preferred; open to nearby states for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Director of Events

About the Role

The Director of Events is the operational leader of Cloth & Flame’s events department, responsible for delivering exceptional events while building the systems, team, and processes that allow the agency to grow.

This is a hands-on, player-coach role. At our current size, this person will personally produce many of our events while overseeing the department, with the role evolving toward greater team leadership and operational management as we grow.

The Director works closely with sales, creative, design, production, culinary, and accounting to ensure what we sell is achievable, appropriately priced, and delivered to the highest standard.

Event Production & Client Management

• Lead and participate in client calls, planning meetings, site visits, and final details calls
• Oversee concurrent events as volume fluctuates, assigning event producers, internal support and freelance resources based on program needs
• Serve as event producer on assigned programs, managing projects from sales handoff through final reconciliation

Team Leadership & Contractor Management

• Manage and develop a small team including our project manager and contract event producers

• Forecast event staffing needs and determine when contract support is needed based on event volume, complexity, and internal capacity

Proposals, Budgets & Scope Management

• Review creative decks and budgets to ensure proposed elements are accurately priced and operationally achievable
• Own budget updates, change orders, contract building and expense grid reviews
• Approve event producer and freelance hours for submission to accounting

Interdepartmental Collaboration

• Partner with the Director of Culinary to establish clear processes and standards for collaboration between F&B and event operations teams
• Develop and maintain chef collaboration agreements and related processes
• Oversee final production deliverables, working with production and warehouse to ensure fabrication and design elements are executed to standard

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in event production, experiential marketing, hospitality, live events, or a related field
• Strong organizational and communication skills across robust, concurrent programs
• Proven experience producing events of varying complexity from planning through execution
• Experience managing, mentoring, or leading event professionals
• Experience managing event budgets with an understanding of margin and profitability
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution
• Calm, resourceful, and solutions-oriented under pressure
• Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as event schedules require
• Ideally based in Arizona, however for the right canidate we would be open to exploring nearby states.
