Job summary

The Jonus Group is seeking a highly motivated Claims Counsel to join a Claims Advocacy Team. You will support clients, manage claims processes, and contribute to business development efforts in a dynamic legal environment.

Role involves monitoring claim statuses, reviewing reports, updating clients, conducting legal research on coverage, and coordinating with TPAs across commercial lines, workers’ compensation, auto and general liability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate are required.
• Minimum of 2 years in civil litigation or similar legal practice.
• Prior knowledge of claims and litigation management is preferred.
• Experience with insurance claims and litigation is required.
• Possession of a property & casualty license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Claims Advocacy: monitor and track claim statuses, review reports, update clients on progress, and negotiate with insurers when needed.
• Claims Reporting: assist with Bordereau reports.
• Legal Research: analyze case law and updated rulings affecting coverage.
• TPA Monitoring: support clients with claims and attend claims status meetings.
• Commercial Lines: assist client service teams and participate in new business opportunities.

Compensation Package

• Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Claims Advocacy:
  
  
  
  • Monitor and track claim statuses.
  
  
  • Review claims reports for accuracy and completeness.
  
  
  • Consult with and update clients on claim statuses, open items, and progress.
  
  
  • Identify concerning claims issues and negotiate with insurers’ claims professionals to ensure proper claim trajectories.
  
  
  
  


• Claims Reporting:
  
  
  
  • Assist with Bordereau reports.
  
  
  
  


• Legal Research:
  
  
  
  • Conduct research on case law and updated rulings affecting coverage.
  
  
  • Analyze jury verdicts and report on litigation trends.
  
  
  
  


• TPA Monitoring:
  
  
  
  • Support clients with claims, particularly in workers’ compensation, auto, and general liability.
  
  
  • Attend periodic claims status and TPA partnership meetings.
  
  
  
  


• Commercial Lines:
  
  
  
  • Assist client service teams and contribute to business development efforts.
  
  
  • Attend new business meetings and develop opportunities.
  
  
  • Address coverage questions and assist with contract reviews.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications/Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate required.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years in civil litigation or similar legal practice.


• Prior knowledge of claims and litigation management (preferred).


• Experience with insurance claims and litigation.
