Job summary

The City of New York seeks an Agency Attorney in the Department of Probation to join the General Law Unit as Associate General Counsel. The role reports to the General Counsel and provides legal guidance across agency operations.

Key duties include research, drafting and negotiating complex agreements, reviewing policies, and handling subpoenas and FOIL requests. Strong NYS Bar admission and civil/criminal law experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Admittance to the New York State Bar.
• Experience in criminal and civil law preferred.
• Strong writing and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform legal research and advise DOP personnel on liability, risk, and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements and MOUs.
• Develop and revise policies, procedures, and operations documents.
