Job summary

H2ajobs in Illinois is seeking a farm laborer to operate and tend self-propelled equipment and assist with planting, harvesting, and storing crops. You will work with GPS-equipped machinery to support corn, soybeans, and other crops.

Duties include maintaining farm buildings and equipment, loading crops for transport, and performing basic site cleanup. Housing and meals are provided; weekly transportation to grocery stores is available.

Qualifications

• Must speak English.
• Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Be able to obtain CDL and maintain a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate or tend self-propelled farming equipment (GPS-equipped).
• Fertilizing, planting, weeding, harvesting, and storing crops such as corn and soybeans.
• Repair and maintain farm structures, equipment, and vehicles; clean work areas.

Job description

Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust machinery; Operate or tend self-propelled equipment and implements (much of which are equipped with GPS) used in agricultural production such as tractor, tillage tool, combine, grain cart, mower, etc. for duties such as fertilizing, planting, weeding, harvesting, storing crops such as corn, soybeans, hay wheat, silage; Repair, prepare, maintain farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Clear brush; Spear fertilizer on fields; Load agricultural products into trucks and drive to market or storage facilities; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Adjust and ready farm machinery and equipment; Clean work areas; While a CDL is not required for the job, some workers hired under this job order may already possess or obtain one; Must speak English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain following hire appropriate CDL and obtain clean driving record to drive trucks. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
