Job summary

NorthStar Foundation is seeking a mature, ultra-reliable van driver to transport students to and from NorthStar on a set daily schedule. This part-time role requires operating 10–15-passenger vans safely, taking attendance, and maintaining order and safety in the vehicle.

Applicants must be at least 21, have a Nebraska driver’s license, and a clean driving record with 3+ years of driving experience. High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• A valid Nebraska driver’s license required and ability to pass pre-employment background screening with acceptable driving record.
• Minimum 21 years of age and three or more years of driving experience.
• No DUI/DWI or similar offenses within past five years.
• Ability to operate a 15-passenger van.
• High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• Knowledge of local streets and road systems or ability to learn quickly.
• Experience driving school-aged children or multiple passengers preferred.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Knowledge of driving laws and regulations.
• Experience driving in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills with school-aged children.
• Maintain a high energy level and speak clearly.

Responsibilities

• Safe operation of NorthStar vehicles.
• Pick up and deliver students per daily schedule.
• Operate 10, 12, or 15-passenger vans following route and NorthStar policies.
• Take attendance prior to boarding.
• Ensure students understand rules and responsibilities as passengers.
• Maintain order and discipline in the vehicle.
• Note behavioral or disciplinary issues.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and vehicle walk-throughs.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and log mileage.
• Inform Facilities Manager of maintenance needs and vehicle issues.
• Stay focused while driving and adhere to procedures.
• Return vehicle to assigned spot and secure at end of route.
