Qualifications

• Previous experience in afterschool programs, camps, child care, or youth development (preferred).
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to multitask, follow program structure, and adapt to children’s needs.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Coursework or credentials in education, child development, or related field (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines including creative activities, homework assistance, snacks, and outdoor play.
• Assist with planning and leading engaging activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs.
• Supervise and actively participate with children during activities, games, and free play.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Foster independence, teamwork, and positive peer interactions using positive guidance strategies.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a welcoming, enriching afterschool environment.
