LeafSpring School at McAlpine in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Afterschool Teacher to support preschool and school-age children during out-of-school hours. You will help plan hands-on activities, supervise play, and foster a caring, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in afterschool programs, camps, child care, or youth development (preferred).
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).

• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to multitask, follow program structure, and adapt to children’s needs.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Coursework or credentials in education, child development, or related field (preferred but not required).

Your Role as an Afterschool Teacher

As an Afterschool Teacher, you’ll help lead a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for preschool/school-age children during out-of-school hours. You’ll support the planning and facilitation of hands‑on activities, games, and group projects that promote creativity, teamwork, and social development. You’ll also help manage daily routines, build positive relationships, and ensure every child feels welcomed and supported.
