Job summary

Horry County Government in Conway, SC is seeking a Program Coordinator for afterschool and summer camp and other recreation programs within the Parks and Recreation Department. This role plans, coordinates, administers, and evaluates diverse programs to meet citizen needs.

You will hire and train staff, supervise site supervisors, manage budgets, build partnerships with community groups, and ensure compliance with county policies and safety standards; occasional after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required; 2- or 4-year degree in Education or Recreation related field desired.
• Experience planning and coordinating afterschool and summer programs.
• Ability to manage budgets and ensure programs operate within county policies.
• Ability to develop partnerships with community groups and agencies.
• Strong communication and ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Develops and facilitates programs for afterschool and summer camps.
• Hires and trains staff and supervises site supervisors.
• Oversees program delivery countywide and monitors participant behavior.
• Monitors financial and activity reports and submits reports.
• Inspects facilities and ensures safety and compliance with safety procedures.
• Designs communications such as flyers and banners for the public.
• May work after normal hours and perform light custodial tasks as needed.
• Keeps informed of county policy changes and continually learns.
