Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Temporary Recreation Leader I for Out of School Time programs. This role supports youth ages 5–17 with arts, sports, drama, and STEAM activities, Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

during the school year and up to 30 hours weekly in summer camps. Responsibilities include planning and leading activities, ensuring safety, supervising participants, and coordinating with staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and one year of related experience or equivalent.
• First Aid training is required.
• Must be 16 years or older and capable of lifting 5–20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and facilitate sports, arts, crafts, and activities for youth 5–17.
• Ensure safety guidelines are followed and participants are supervised.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging program environment.
• Prepare sites, set up equipment, and complete required reports.
