Job summary

City of Alexandria’s Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities department seeks a Temporary Recreation Leader I to support the Youth Basketball Official program. You will help officiate games, interact with players, families, and staff, and contribute to safe, enjoyable events for local youths.

Applicants must be high school students in good standing and ready to work flexible hours outside standard business times. A background check will be completed before employment.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school student in good standing.
• Experience in recreational activities or sports is a plus.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with players, coaches, parents, and staff.
• Officiate athletic contests in a fair and impartial manner.
• Gain experience in the sports management field.
• Maintain continuous watch of participants to prevent injury.
• Observe and enforces facility rules and regulations.
• Assist with the set-up and break-down of athletic contests.
• Function effectively as a team member.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
• Perform related work as required.
