Job summary

The City of Dublin (CA) is seeking an entry-level Recreation Leader I to support Family Programs across multiple recreation sites within Dublin Unified School District. You will assist in delivering programs for preschoolers to seniors, manage facilities, and provide customer service with a safety-first approach.

Salary is hourly with shifts in the afternoons and some mornings; the role requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• No educational requirement; completion of two years of high school or equivalent is desirable.
• No prior work experience required; desirable qualifications include cash handling or working with school-age children in a structured/supervised program.
• Must be at least 15 years of age at hire.
• Applicants 18+ with direct contact with minors must pass fingerprint background check.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of employment; Mandated Reporter training within 30 days.
• Knowledge of recreation programming, customer service and basic cash handling.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering recreation programs at parks, playgrounds, community centers, school sites, pools, and events.
• Lead age-appropriate activities (arts/crafts, games, sports, enrichment, events).
• Inspect facilities, equipment, and program areas for safety and cleanliness.
• Monitor participant behavior and facility use per rules and safety guidelines.
• Set up, take down, and store equipment and furnishings for programs/events.
• Open/close and secure recreation facilities as assigned.
• Provide customer service to participants, parents, and the public (in person/phone).
• Process registrations, issue passes, and handle basic cash transactions.
• Complete attendance records and routine program documentation.
• Provide basic First Aid/CPR and respond to emergencies per EAPs.
• Build positive relationships with participants, staff, volunteers, and the public.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
